This month I’ve devoted many hours to creating rock forms and textures—volcanic rock, eroded rock, rock like beads, and carved-out rock. Recently I read in Sand: The Never-Ending Story that rocks decay. Yet their hard surfaces and solid forms give us the sense of a firm, immovable presence. But everything changes, even rock. These studies are a homage to the permanent nature of change.
