WORDS GET IN THE BONES
Words can get into the bones. This surreal photograph of dried lilies arranged on top of a plaster cast of an ear makes a surreal play on fragile words and hardened ears. While I do not generally consider myself a surrealist, I have a love of unexpected juxtapositions of materials and imagery. The strength of the plaster cast ear and the delicacy of the fragile, faded lilies appealed to that sensibility.
On view in “Unleashed,” a surrealism show at AHA Fine Art Gallery, Bushwick, Brooklyn.
